THE VICE-CHANCELLOR PRESS BRIEFING

Ojaja University is set to celebrate a significant milestone with its maiden and combined convocation ceremony scheduled for Saturday, October 12, 2024. The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Jeleel Olasunkanmi Ojuade, addressed the media on October 8, 2024, outlining the university's achievements and future aspirations during a press briefing held at the university's campus in Eiyenkorin.


Key Highlights from the Press Briefing

Royal Greetings: The Vice-Chancellor conveyed greetings from **His Imperial Majesty, Kabiyesi, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi CFR, the Chancellor of Ojaja University, emphasizing the university's connection to the Yoruba royal lineage.

University Background: Established as Crown-hill University  in 2016, Ojaja University was rebranded following a change in ownership to the Ooni of Ife. This transition included a new vision and mission aimed at fostering a conducive learning environment and producing globally competitive graduates.

Milestones Achieved:

  - Accreditation of 13 undergraduate courses by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

  - Mobilization of graduates for the compulsory National Youth Service Corps.

  - Establishment of the School of Preliminary and Advanced Studies.

  - Expansion of academic programs and infrastructure renewal.


 Upcoming Convocation Activities

The convocation will honor graduates from the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 academic sessions, with various activities planned leading up to the main event:

- October 8, 2024: A football match between Ojaja and Al-Hikmah Universities.

- October 11, 2024: A cultural showcase at the university auditorium.

- October 12, 2024: The convocation lecture will be delivered by His Royal Majesty, Oba Ghandi Afolabi Olaoye, followed by the awarding of degrees to graduates.


Graduation Statistics

A total of  183 students are set to graduate, with breakdowns across various faculties. Notably, from the 2021/2022 academic session, there were:

- 20 First Class degrees

- 52 Second Class Upper degrees

- 71 Second Class Lower degrees

- 21 Third Class degrees

The Vice-Chancellor expressed gratitude towards the local community for their support and highlighted Ojaja University's commitment to becoming a self-sustaining institution and a model for corporate governance among African universities.

This convocation not only marks a celebration of academic achievements but also sets a foundation for Ojaja University's future as a center of excellence in education.
